Lady Ga Ga

This week we are going with Lady Ga Ga for our unique personality. We will take a look at her beginning, her influences and her amazing concerts.

Stefani Germanotta to Lady Ga Ga

Before there was a whole lot of styling and theatrics there was a brunette girl with a very good voice. Lady Gaga was Stefani Germanotta. She was a very talented singer and pianist with not a very terribly distinctive look other than looking like any girl, every girl, anywhere.

Captivated and Electric Kiss

I absolutely love Lady Gaga. A talent and creative gift she is an inspiration to all orginators to stick at it until the fame arrives.

Developing her craft as a songwriter she was taken under the wing of Akon and honed her performance skills in night clubs such as Mercury Lounge, The Bitter End, and the Rockwood Music Hall.

She was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. When looking for a stage name, and being a big Freddie Mercury fan she receives a text message referring to the Queen song Radio Ga Ga and screams, "That’s it, I’ll be Lady Gaga from now on."

Finally GaGa's hard work paid off when her first studio album called "The Fame" hit the U.S. stores on August 19 2008. "It's very 70's, with early 80's Prince-like guitars and 80's synths. It's a bit retro, a bit glamorous, and you can dance to it. It's very futuristic, very fresh, and very dramatic, sort of like theatrical pop," she commented on the effort. The Fame tour followed and was a huge success.

Then came the monster. The Fame Monster album followed by the amazing tour with the mind boggling stage shows. Here are some of Ga Ga's amazing live performances plus if you search You Tube you will find many more brilliant performances by a super talent and entertainer.

Ga Ga is presently in the studio putting down her third album and by her tweets she is even sleeping in the studio Here is a twitpic link of her in bed at the studio.

Richard Branson

Richard Branson
 Space to Sea

Billionaire Sir Richard Branson may already own an airline, a record label, a mobile phone company, several luxury restaurants and a Caribbean island and heading into space next year.
This is his latest venture an underwater plane. He plans to give people the opportunity too holiday underwater with this submersible called the Necker Nymph it can dive to depths of up to 130ft. Sir Richard hopes to one day explore depths of 35,000ft.
Passengers prepare for the “flight” by completing scuba diving training before boarding the Nymph. Considered part plane, part submarine, (actually known as an aero-submarine), Nymph glides seamlessly through the ocean and will whisk passengers into the world of shipwrecks, reefs and life underwater.

Richard beware of these giants, they could have a sting in their tail for your Nymph. It looks a little fragile too me but I admire your adventurous spirit.

This all follows on from his announcement last year of the first space tourism flights which are set to launch in 2011. Passengers can enjoy a 2.5 hour flight at $200,000 each. Six voyagers and two pilots will venture into outer space, with the ability to see Earth from the stars and experience weightlessness.

Then  at the age of 27, Richard signed The Sex Pistols to the Virgin Records label after the group was turned down by every label in Great Britain.Other artists he signed were "Genesis", "The Rolling Stones" and "Simple Minds"
Tubular Bells

Virgin Airlines is one of Richard Branson's main businesses. Formed in 1984, it is part owned by Singapore Airlines, and it is the second largest British long haul international airline, and has won many awards.
To keep his airline afloat, Branson sold the Virgin music label to EMI in 1992, a more conservative company which previously had rescinded a contract with the Sex Pistols. Branson apparently wept when the sale was completed since the record business had been the genesis of his Virgin Empire.
Since then he has built businesses around mobile phone and internet company, cola, books, wines, holidays, hot air ballooning which is one of his personal passions.
In 1987 Branson crossed the Atlantic Ocean in the "Virgin Atlantic Flyer", which was the first and largest hot air balloon to cross the ocean. Branson now plans to circle the world in his hot air balloon, and has made several unsuccessful attempts.
Richard Branson received a knighthood in 1999. He is married to Joan and has two children, Holly and Sam.
Branson is passionate about life and living every minute to its fullest.

Branson passage from his Blog

I don't think that many business people start their business with the idea that they can make a lot of money. Most people feel that they can create something that is going to make a difference to other people's lives – that is how they start their businesses. I started Student magazine as a teenager, nothing to do with being a businessman, I just wanted to run a magazine, have fun doing it and try to help campaign to stop the Vietnamese war.
 Interview
Asked if he were to start again with no capital or connections – what business would you go into today to make your fortune?’
Branson: ‘That’s an easy one – it would definitely be some kind of web-based business. I started my career in the late 60s selling my student magazine on the streets, and then moved to selling records from a phone box. Today both industries are struggling because of the internet – but where there’s pain there’s a hell of a lot of opportunity for someone to shake things up.’

Mick Jagger

Mick Jagger Quotes

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.
  •
It's alright letting yourself go, as long as you can get yourself back.

I think I`m a pretty good father. I have a nice affinity with children, not just my own. I like taking bunches of kids out for the day. Kids keep you young and they keep you laughing.

Rolling Stones Album Covers

Mick Talking about the song Under My Thumb
There was one song that was particularly chosen as an anti-women thing, which was Under My Thumb. And actually Under My Thumb - how does it go... (sings) Under my thumb, there`s a girl who once had ME down. So the whole idea was that she - that I was under HER, she was kicking ME around. So the whole idea is absurd, all I did was turn the tables around. So women took that to be... against femininity where in reality it was... trying to "get back", you know, against being a "repressed male".

    Controversal Stones

Songs like Brown Sugar caused a stir and femenist uproar. Even civil rights leader Jesse Jackson spoke out in protest of their song Some Girls which had the line, black girls just want 2 get f--ked all night.

The album cover of Some Girls was a parody of a newspaper ad for wigs, but the women wearing the wigs were celebrities like Raquel Welch, Lucille Ball, and Farrah Fawcett. They were forced to remove images after a lawsuit was filed.

Jagger talking on Larry King Show

"Exile on Main Street" was originally released in 1972- part of the Rolling Stones most prolific and creative period. Jagger talked about the moment of the music coming together and later said that he ranked "Exile" right up there as a special album for him

About drug use, Jagger stated "the lifestyle starts to choose you." He explained that he learned better not to use drugs on stage, calling it "a control factor".

Jagger talked about musical artists who came to England and those who inspired him, including: Big Bill Broonzy, Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, Little Richard, Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley.

    Biography

Mick Jagger is one of the most popular and influential frontmen in the history of rock & roll. Jagger fronted the Rolling Stones for over 20 years before he began a solo career in 1985.  Born Michael Phillip Jagger on July 26, 1943, in Dartford, England, he initially met future musical collaborator and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards while the pair were five years old at primary school, although they would lose contact with each other shortly thereafter. In the intervening years, Jagger discovered a love for music, especially early rock & roll (forming a high school band, Little Boy Blue & the Blue Boys), as well as developing an interest in business, attending the London School of Economics. In his late teens, Jagger happened to bump into Richards once again (while the two were waiting on a train platform), and when Richards noticed Jagger had several blues records under his arm, they became friends again and started up the Rolling Stones shortly thereafter.
